Presbyterian Hospital Seminar
Wednesday, April 3,, from 1 – 2 PM. To register, call (704) 384-2273. The Importance of Thyroid Health – topics include About Your Thyroid, Neck Check, and Thyroid Conditions & Treatment. Presented by Kanakasabai Narasimhan, MD, FACP – South Charlotte Endocrinology. Free program, open to the community.
Monthly Support Groups
Bereavement Support Group meets Monday, April 8th, and 22nd, 5-6:30 PM, and Friday, April 12th and 26th, from  10-11:30 AM in the Community Room.
Caregivers Support Group meets Tuesday, April 9th and 23rd, 9:30-11:30 AM in the Board Room.
Diabetes  Support Group meets Monday, April 1st, from 12:30 – 1:30 PM in the Arts and Crafts Room.
Stroke Support Group meets Thursday, April 4th, from 10 – 11 AM in the Board Room.
Blinded Veterans Support Group meets Wednesday, April  10th, from 10 AM to 12 PM in the Banquet Hall.
Welcome Session for those new to the Center. An informative orientation for new partners to learn more about the daily operations of the Center and upcoming events. The monthly meeting in April will be held on Thursday, April 4th, from 9 – 10 AM in the Community Room. Members of the Advisory Council will meet with new partners and answer questions. Please register in the Center library.
Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP)
Trained counselors provide free assistance with Medicare, Medicare Part D, Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage, and long-term care insurance questions. For an appointment, call (704) 846-4654. Appointments available on Monday, March 11th, from 9 to 11 AM.

Happy Times Club
Join us every Thursday from 10AM to 1PM for great socializing and fun! Sing-alongs, speakers, programs followed by lunch. Annual Dues $20.
TOPS, “Take Off Pounds Sensibly”, meets every Monday from 9:30 -11AM in the Community Room.

Special Events
Texas Roadhouse Fundraiser, Tuesday, April 16th, from 4 to 10 PM. Bring your family and friends to Texas Roadhouse and the Center will earn 10% of all sales. Please bring the flyer with you to the restaurant to receive the discount. Funds will support the Levine Senior Center Scholarship Assistance Program.
Senior Games – Opening Ceremonies and Performing Arts will be held at the Levine Senior Center on Thursday, April 18th, at 6:30 PM. Admission is $3 per person at the door. Open to the community. Dessert and beverages will be served after the show.
AARP Driver Safety Class, Friday, April 19th, from 9 AM to 1 PM. One session only in the Community Room. Register in the Center library. AARP member - $12; non-member - $14.
Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraiser, Saturday, April 20th, 7:30 – 10 AM, 9616 E. Independence Blvd., Matthews (across from Windsor Square). Tickets are $7 per person and can be purchased in the Center Library or at Applebee’s on the day of the event. Valid only at this location. Meal consists of three pancakes, two sausage links, and a beverage.
Lifetime Partnership Raffle – enter to win a lifetime partnership to the Center, valued at $1000. Enter for yourself or someone special. Recipients of the Lifetime Partnership must be 50 years of age or older. All proceeds benefit the Center. Raffle tickets are $2 for one, or 3 for $5. Tickets are available for purchase in the Center library. Drawing will be held on Friday, April 26th at Noon. You do not have to be present to win.
Upcoming Events
Spring Bazaar, Saturday, May 4th, 9 AM to 3 PM. Vendors, Baskets, Book and Bake Sale. Lunch will be served from 11AM to 2 PM.
Matthews Rotary Spaghetti Dinner, Friday, May 10th, from 5 to 8 PM.  All-you-can-eat spaghetti with meat sauce, bread, salad, beverage, and dessert. Live entertainment.  Tickets on sale in the Center library for $8 per person.
StrokeSmart Seminar & Luncheon, Wednesday, May 22nd, 10 AM to 1:30 PM. Health Fair and exhibitors. Cholesterol, blood pressure, and glucose screenings from 10 AM to Noon. (Please fast prior to cholesterol screenings.) Exercise demonstration at 11 AM. Presentations at Noon include: You Are What You Eat – Diet and Stroke, What is a Stroke – Signs, Symptoms, What to Do, and Life After a Stroke. Question and Answer Sessions to follow. The first 125 people to register will receive a complimentary boxed lunch. Space is limited; registration is required. Call 704 384 – 2273 to register for this free event.
